Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates has announced that the President has nominated:

Major General Howard B. Bromberg, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Commanding General/Chief of Staff, United States Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Georgia. He most recently served as Senior Commander for Fort Bliss, Fort Bliss, Texas.
